Exodus 20:3 in the Bible, “worship no God but me”. Now in this planet we live in, we find many gods in the form of human beings, that us as fellow humans perceive as gods. That perception of cause is cultivated by the media. One of the assumptions about the media is that it’s a platform of fame and disgrace. We all know the Kardashian’s, specifically Kim Kardashian her rise to fame came through her leaked sex tape with then boyfriend Ray J. Since then Kardashians managed to have their own reality show “Keeping up with the Kardashians” which is very popular internationally. Every girl wants to be a Kardashian and every boy wants a girlfriend that’s like the Kardashian’s, Kim to be specific.

The Kardashian’s are a typical example ‘zero to hero’, well known for?-Nothing really! I might think their famous for nothing, but their people who are having sleepless nights, striving to be the next Kim Kardashian. Myla Sinanaj, Kris Humphries ex-girlfriend, who is Kim’s ex-husband. Is to perform a $30 000 plastic surgery on lipo, breast augmentation and lip injection so she can look like Kim. Weird enough Myla claims not to like Kim but aspires to look like her. She claims she is tired of people comparing her to Kim, so what does she do? Decide to look exactly like her.

Moving to another scary and bazaar matter, which is about the pursuit of ‘perfection’, Valeria Luckyanova a 23 year old Ukranian, who went under the knife to look exactly like Barbie. Barbie doll, who was first introduced in 1959 as a blonde and brunette, with what the media would call a ‘perfect body ’ with its defining function. Small waist line, long legs and right cup size. I know when I was growing up, we all thought Barbie was hot and we all wanted to be like her. Nice outfits, good life and beauty…Barbie had it all, well in her world. I find this very disturbing, how can cartoon character have so much power? We all seek perfection, spiritual perfection I believe but not going through so much to look like a fictitious character that exists in a toy store and story books. It is clear that Barbie is well marketed that some can believe in her so much.  All I can say as people lets appreciate what and who we are, what we see and hear on the media shouldn’t be the base of your existence. THE EVER BUZZING B..

Yes we are talking about another next to God human being, Beyoncé again! Some say Yey and others Nah not again, depending on how you have digested her media coverage all these years. As we were busy with life and issues of inflation, things that actually make a difference in life. Beyoncé decided to get a haircut, those who know call it a pixie cut.  Looking at the pictures I realised Halle Berry has been rocking the look since I was in primary, how do I forget Jada Pinkett.

 We all know it’s not about the haircut right? Even a girl in Orlando, Soweto has it, but there is no fuss there. It is all about how she has been made to be by the media. B is like the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, that’s how important she is. Gold price drops, B gets a haircut we all concerned. I wouldn’t be surprised if her latest toothbrush is the biggest seller in the oral hygiene department that is how much people follow her. I am sure salons in Alex, Johannesburg to Vienna, Austria are buzzing with ladies wanting the pixie cut she’s good for business I guess.

 I can’t say I blame her though, it all began when she was made to stand out from the rest of her group members in Destinys Child.  Wearing sexier outfits, sexier moves and of cause the camera ever on her. I never had a clear picture of Michelle until way later, poor girl she even  disappeared , came back as a gospel singer surely avoiding the comparison which she would have never won. Beyoncé took advantage of all the media exposure to grow her career, which is really a smart move. She is now a world Goddess, thanks to the opportunities she ceased.  These exciting news have not touched all hearts after all, Huffington post shared exactly my sentiments there is nothing new and even Kelly Rowlands on TMZ.  Anyway that is what the media does, makes a fuss over nothing, because of who you are and what they have made of you. I will try not to lose sleep over B’s sudden ‘change’.
